Rapid Fielding Initiative. What that means is the Army is buying us newer and more updated equipment. We get better boots, boots that the sole will not wear down the first month, such as mine. A new Kevlar helmet which is smaller but lighter and has a much needed redesign of the inner padding and chin strap. Makes it more like a football helmet, I guess for Ballistic football... err, bad joke. T-shirts that wick away the sweat, there's a lot of it after just a minute in our body armor! Fleece pants and jackets, you wouldn't think we need cold weather clothing over here but it does get cold at night, especially in the winter. In Kuwait before we came up here, it would get down into the low 40's at night. And when we finally go back to the States it will be winter so we are going to be popsicles. Well that is all for today. By the way we are in a cooling trend, only 104 today.
